His occupation was Farmer when he enlisted at Camden in September 1916 and served in the 39th Battalion A.I.F. He left Sydney on the 'Benalla' 9 November 1916 and arrived in England January 1917. He was first cousin to (Lieutenant 6/226) Fred Ditzell who was killed in France in 1917. Private Leslie Charles Phair GRUNDY was admitted to hospital in England on 30 January with Influenza and again on the 2 February 1917 where he died from Broncho Pneumonia at 9am on the 20 February 1917 age 20. |
